Summary:The welder is responsible for operating appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision, this is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. They also will repair products that do not meet the customers needs. Duties and Responsibilities: Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.Operate and/or use forklift, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting touches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurement. Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.Fill holes, cut, contour, and bevel metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions as specified by blueprints, layouts, work orders, and templates. Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter using hand scrappers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment. Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts as necessary. Tig & Mig Weld components using various materials such as Aluminum, Steel, and Invar.Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Work Experience:Associates or Technical School preferred.One to Three years experience with MIG & TIG welding and fabrication processes.Welding Certificates.
